Desperately Seeking Jesus: Giving ourselves to Him

How much of ourselves do we give to the Lord?  For the most of us, we give what we feel comfortable giving.  Each day we wake up and we give all of our time and attention to the world.  Yet, we only give maybe 10-20 minutes (if even) to God.  What’s worse, we’re o.k. with it.  What if we gave more?  Do you think God would notice?  Do you think He would be pleased?  Let’s take a look at Mark 12:41-44.  Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury.  Many rich people threw in large amounts.  But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.  Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.  They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”  Now, reading this you may think that this is about money, but quite the contrary.  This is about seeking Jesus so deeply that you are willing to give all of yourself and all that you have.  How can we give to the Lord with all of our heart even out of our poverty?  Many of us have very little time to ourselves.  How much time are we willing to give to the Lord?  What sacrifices would we be willing to make in order to give our time even out of our poverty?  There are so many ways we can give to the Lord.  If only we were to seek Him with all of our heart, we would give more of ourselves, our time, our attention, our hearts, our everything.  The Lord watched the widow give out of her poverty.  He was amazed and He was pleased.  He certainly noticed.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all be like that poor widow?  Out of her poverty, she gave all that she had.  How about you?  Would you be willing to give all of yourself to the Lord?  Would you be willing to give yourself to the Lord as a living sacrifice?  May we all surrender ourselves fully to the Lord and may we seek Jesus desperately.  God bless you all.

Desperately Seeking Jesus: Reaching out to Him

How great is your need for Jesus?  When was the last time you reached out to Him with faith?  We say we believe, but do we really?  Some of us have been misled and swayed to other things such as drugs, alcohol, sexual affairs and other harmful addictions.  However, this is not so to those whose heart truly belong to God.  Unfortunately for the most of us, it is only when we have reached rock bottom we truly seek Him and reach out to Him.  Let's read about a woman who desperately reached out to Jesus.  Mark 5:25-34 reads; A large crowd followed and pressed around him.  And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.  She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.  When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed."  Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.  At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him.  He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?"  "You see the people crowding against you," his disciples answered,  "and yet you can ask, 'Who touched me?"  But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.  Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.  He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you.  Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."  How beautiful!  How even more beautiful to the one who reached out desperately in need of Him with faith.  If only we reached out and believed!  If only we prayed and believed!  If only we followed Him and believed!  If only we surrendered and believed!  What miracles would the Lord do through us!  What testimonies would we have to give!  What power and good works would He do through us!  Oh, if only we reached out with such faith, we would undoubtedly live a victorious Christian life.  May we all reach out to Him with great faith, desperately seeking Jesus.  God bless you all.
